The white rose is dying … only a couple of petals left. I thought the crochet version of a dying rose will give you some ideas about what else you can do with a scrap of thread and a crochet hook. Trouble struck today and the backlight on my laptop is gone
, photo processing was pretty though, I cannot see much, the screen is almost blank. Good side is… I'll need to buy a new laptop.

White Rose Dying Flower Crochet Pattern
INSTRUCTIONS:
Yarn: crochet cotton colour A =green and colour B =white; sewing thread colour C =white
Crochet hook: 1mm, 2mm
Details of components:
- two white petals and a green calyx
- lots of white filaments with brown/orange stamens.
METHOD:
Sepals
Start: using A and 2mm hook, make 4ch, join with sl st, 1ch
R1: 10sc in the ring, join with sl st, 1ch
R2: (1sc, (1sc, 1sc))x5, join with sl st, 1ch
R3: 15sc, join with sl st, 1ch
R4, R5, R6 same as R3
R7: (7 ch, 2sc, 2hdc, 2dc, skip 2st and 1sl st in the 3rd sc)x2, (10 ch, 3sc, 3hdc, 3dc, skip 2st and 1sl st in the 3rd sc)x3 = 5 sepals. Work on (WS) to close the calyx; fill in calyx with poly fill.
R8: pick up 10 st from under the sepals = 10sc, join with sl st, 1ch
R9: 10sc, join with sl st, 1ch
R10: (skip 1sc, 1sc) x 5 = 5sc, join with sl st, 1ch
R11: 5sc, join with sl st, 1ch
R12: (skip 1sc, 1sc) x 2, 1sc = 3sc.
R13: 2sc. Finish off.
Petals
Start: tie B above one of the sepals and using 2mm hook, _make 17ch
R1: 1dc in the 3rd ch, 1dc, 6hdc, 7sc, 1sl st in the base ch, 1ch
R2: 7sc, 6hdc, (1dc, 1tr, 1dc), (1sc, 1dc, 1sc) on tip of petal, (1dc, 1tr, 1dc), 6hdc, 7sc, 1sl st, 1sc.
Repeat once from _ to make the two petals. Finish off colour B.
Stamens
Start: tie C on top of the calyx above the petals, make (15c, 1 clone knot, 13sl st) = 1 filament. Make about 20 filaments on 12-15ch.
Use a brown and an orange marker to colour the stamens.
The White Rose is ready!

im sorry but this does not look anything like a rose to me . but on the lighter side i do enjoy a lot of your patterns

The patterns I make are my interpretation of the flowers in the photographs. Just look at them from an artistic point of view – what could you do using crochet techniques…
