Buttercup Flower Crochet Pattern

A simple flower pattern for today – Buttercup, latin name Ranunculus.
Inspiration
Buttercup Crochet Pattern
INSTRUCTIONS:
Yarn: tapestry cotton in colour A=green, colour B=dark yellow, colour C=light yellow
Crochet hook: 2.5mm
Details of components:
- a small ball shape, green colour stigma in the centre (colour A)
- 5 bright yellow, highly lustrous petals (colour C)
- lots of yellow stamens (colour B)
METHOD:
Green Centre
R1: using A, make 2ch, 3sc in the first ch, join with sl st, 1ch, continue in round 5 sc. Finish off A.
Stamens
Start: using B, make 5ch and join with sl st in ring
R1: (4ch, sl st in 2nd ch, sl st, 1sc in the ring)x11. Fasten off. 
Petals
Start: using C, make 7ch and join with sl st in ring, 1ch
Make 5 petals in ring:
1 petal: R1:3sc, R2: 1ch, 3sc, R3: 1ch, 4sc, R4: 1ch, 5sc, R5: 1ch, 6sc, R6: 1ch, 7sc,
R7: 1ch, 6sc, R8: 1ch, 5sc;
- continue with sc on the edge of the petal towards the ring as follows: (1sc, 1sc), 4sc
R9: (RS) 5sc, (1sc, 1sc), 5sc, (1sc, 1sc), 5sc
After the petals are completed, insert the green centre in the stamens’ ring and the stamens inside the petals ring. Stitch them all together. I stitched the petals as well a little bit, for a more bud-like appearance.
And, here is our buttercup!

I really love your flower, but I do not understand your directions for the petals at all. I thought I was doing it right at first, then you totally lost me after row 8.
Hi Michelle, no problem. Let’s see if I can help. So, you’re row 8:
R8: 1ch, 5sc; this row in worked on the Wrong side. At this stage, the petal is almost done but you last stitch is at top of the petal and you have to get back to the base. In order to do this and also improve the shape of the petal, still on the WS you have to:
- continue with sc on the edge of the petal towards the ring as follows: (1sc, 1sc) this is right up in the corner to make the petal rounder, then on the edge of the petal you make 4sc until you reach the ring.
Next is row 9:

You turn work on RS and do an edging to the whole same petal:
R9: (RS) 5sc, (1sc, 1sc), 5sc, (1sc, 1sc), 5sc. Now you’re back in the ring (still RS)and ready to start the next petal. I hope it’s gonna work this time for you
