CROCHET PATTERNS (Pattern #74 Spathiphyllum * Peace Lily) – 365 Crochet Flowers Bouquet Project

Introduction

Peace Lily or Spathiphyllum is a flowering plant native of the Americas and south-eastern Asia. Out of its natural habitat, Spathiphylum is grown as an indoor plant. The plant features glossy, pointed leaves and stunning long-lasting white flowers emerging from the leaf stalk. The flower has a cupped white spathe and white or yellow central spadix.

How to Crochet a Peace Lily Flower?

Crochet Yarn

  • crochet cotton Size #5 colour A = white
  • embroidery cotton colour B = green, colour C = yellow.

Crochet Hook

  •  2mm steel hook.

  • cup-shape white spathe on a green stalk

Start: using 2mm hook and colour A make 11ch,

StalkSpathiphyllum crocheted stalk

Start: using B and 2mm hook, make 4ch, join with sl st, 1ch,

R1: make 4sc in the ring, join with sl st, 1ch. Continue work in spiral to cover 7inches of a 9inches piece of gardening wire. Change to colour C, fasten off B.

Crochet Spandix

Make 5sc. For the spikes on the spandix, we’ll make picot stitches.

Work in spiral repeating (2sc, 1picot) over the remaining 2 inches.

Dec to 1sc and fasten off C.

Assembly

Insert the Stalk & Spandix in the Spathe’s opening. About ¾ inch of the stalk should be visible inside the spathe. Stitch the sides of the opening to the stalk. Shape the spathe. The flower could be stiffened at this stage, to give it a permanent shape.

    What does 2sts-sc dec, 7sc, (1sc, 1hdc, 1dc, 1tr) = 12sts, 1ch, mean i understand i will have 12sts and 1ch left but I dont understand what 2ts – sc dec mean or how i am supposed to go about crocheting that
