Introduction
Kerry Lily (Simethis planifolia), native to Co. Kerry in Ireland is a bulbous plant which favour dry coastal places.
The beautiful white flowers are similar to the lilies, hence the name, but smaller in size. They have 6 tepals and 6 stamens with prominent yellow anthers.

Crochet Yarn
- Crochet cotton Size 5 colour A = white,
- Embroidery cotton (6strands) colour B = yellow, colour C = green.
Crochet Hook
- 1mm steel hook, 1.75 mm steel hook.
Details of components
- pink tubular corolla with 5 notched lobes, the upper 2 lobes narrower than lower ones.
Crochet Flower Pattern
Crochet Corolla (3-tepal piece style 1)
Start: using A and 1.75mm hook, make 4ch, join in ring with sl st, 1ch
R1: 6sc in the ring, join with sl st, 1ch
R2: 1sc, *6ch, skip 1st ch and make 5 sc, sl st in the next sc on the left, 2ch, turn
R3: 3hdc, 1sc, (2sc, 1picot, 1hdc) in the next sc on the tip of petal, pivot and continue with 2sc, 3hdc, 2ch, sl st at base of tepal, sl st in the next 2sc in the ring, turn. Repeat from * twice more to make 3 tepals.
Crochet Corolla (3-tepal piece style 2)
Start: using A and 1.75mm hook, make 4ch, join in ring with sl st, 1ch
R1: 6sc in the ring, join with sl st, 1ch
R2: 1sc, *7ch, skip 1st ch and make 6 sc, sl st in the next sc on the left, 2ch, turn
R3: 4hdc, 1sc, (2sc, 1picot, 1hdc) in the next sc on the tip of petal, pivot and continue with 2sc, 4hdc, sl st at base of tepal, sl st in the next 2sc in the ring, turn. Repeat from * twice more to make 3 tepals.
Stamens (6pcs.)
Start: using 1mm hook and colour A, make 6ch, change to colour B, fasten off A and make a small clone’s knot. Fasten off B. Make 6 pieces.
Stigma
Start: using 1mm hook and colour C, make 2ch, 1 clone’s knot, 2sl st. Fasten off C.
Assembly
Place 3-tepal piece style 1 on top of 3-tepal piece style 2 and stitch together, such that you will have a 6 vertices star. Place the stigma in the middle of the 6 stamens, secure together and pull them through the central ring. Stitch them at back of flower.
