About the Large Field-speedwell
Large Field-speedwell (Veronica persica), also known as Persian speedwell is a spreading wild flower native of Eurasia.
The plant produces solitary sky-blue flowers with a white centre, darker veins and a lighter lip. The flowers are really tiny, measuring only 8-11mm wide.
How to Crochet the Large Field-speedwell?
Large Field-speedwell Flower Pattern
- Embroidery cotton (6strands) colour A = blue, colour B = white, colour C = purple.
- 1 mm steel hook.

Crochet Flower Pattern
Start: using colour B, make 4ch, join with sl st,
R1: (make 3ch, 1sc)x 4, join with sl st, change to colour A
R2: (work in the 3ch chain 1sc, change to colour C, 1hdc, change to colour A 1dc, change to colour C 1tr, change to colour A 1tr, change to colour C 1tr, change to colour A 1dc, change to colour C, 1hdc, change to colour A 1sc ) x 3 = 3 petals, fasten off C.
Continue with the light-colour petal: change to colour B 1hdc, change to colour A 1dc, change to colour B 1tr, change to colour A 1tr, change to colour B 1tr, change to colour A 1dc, change to colour B 1hdc. Fasten off A and B.
Cut a piece of yarn in colour B, make a knot at each end, fold and pull it through the centre of the flower.
